    In Google Webmaster Tools I am getting 269 Items with errors – Missing: updated and author. I specifically do not want to show updated or authors so in my custom css I have

    .posted-on {
    display: none; }

    .author.vcard {
    display: none; }

    Is there a way to not post update or author but get rid of the error?

    Website is http://plantbest.com

    Thanks!

    Your site looks valid to me: https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool?url=http%253A%252F%252Fplantbest.com%252F

    Those might be old errors – are they specifying any pages?

    It’s important to know that these “errors” won’t hurt anything – it simply won’t show the author in search results.

    Thanks Tom. This is current in Google Webmaster Tools -> Structured Data > hatom (markup: micro formats.org). Today the number has gone up from 269 to 271 errors. All say the same thing:

    Error type: Missing: updated 271 Items with Error
    Error type: Missing: author 271 Items with Error

    There are 330 Items on 330 pages and 271 Items with Errors on 271 pages.

    Hmm, not sure what to think of that when their own tool is saying there’s no errors.

    Either way, the way to “fix” this would be to include the author name and post date on static pages, which I don’t think anyone wants.

    I’ve been watching this and the errors are going down. Tonight there are only 48. Very interesting. I’m going to mark this as resolved.

    Thanks for all your help!!!!
