[Support request] Met with “critical error” message on attempt to update to PHP 8.1

Hello,

I’m wondering if you can help with interpreting error messages after attempting to update my site at https://churchletters.org from PHP 7.4 to 8.1 –

Perhaps not theme related but just looking for possible help. I’m also contacting the membership plugin developer (DAP)

Hi there,

all those errors trace to the (?) dapheaderlogin plugin. You may want to report that to the plugin author…
but please note even WP isn’t fully compatible with PHP 8.* yet:

And there are plenty of plugins out there that are not either, and some of that may be because they are waiting WP core updates.

In short, try PHP 8.0.1 instead, if that works great.
If you get the same error and you can’t replace that plugin then you will need to downgrade to 7.4.

So “all” the errors point to that plugin? I can actually do without it, so I may try that as well.

Top of the stack trace we see: dap_filter_posts where the error originates – i am kinda guessing that belongs to that plugin. As all the other notices then follow to: wp-content/plugins/dapheaderlogin/
