Menu with category - stay on page by click on menupoint

Hello,
I have a tree structure in my menu consisting of categories and would like the user to simply stay on the current page when clicking on the top item.
Example:
Topics
- Articles
- Guides
When clicking on Topics the user should stay on the exact page he is on.

GP doesn't have control over the menu system, it's managed by WP.
Can you try to use custom links to add the topics menu item and set its URL to#?
