Menu on small screens expands only on clicking arrow, not text

Hi,
I have a top-level menu item that on mouse-over "drops down" to view the second-level menu items, which works fine on e.g. laptop and ipad. The problem is when viewing the website on a smaller device (e.g. iphone 5). Then, when tapping the text of the top-level menu item, nothing happens. You have to tap the small downward-facing arrow to the right to get the drop-down. This is very frustrating since you expect that tapping anywhere on the menu item (either on text or arrow) should open the drop-down.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

This is intended behavior, but I've had a couple complaints about it.
I've had quite a few people like the way it currently works as well, so I need to find an easy way to switch between the two - I'll make it a top priority and get something figured out ASAP.

It will bring back the old version of the mobile menu.
