Hi, is it possible to create a sub drop down menu as a block element? So I can make multiple columns in the submenu?

Hi there,

That's not possible with a block element unfortunately.

Sounds like you are after a mega menu.

This article provides a solution for a simple mega menu:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/building-simple-mega-menu/

If you need something more complicated than that then I'd recommend trying a plugin solution like Max Mega Menu or one of the suggestions here:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-add-a-mega-menu-on-your-wordpress-site-step-by-step/

I'd like to chime in with my support for this feature as well.

There's no reason block elements can't be used as a full-fledged mega menu builder. In fact, I think it's a perfect pairing, and would be another compelling reason to choose GP for almost any project.
Astra, Blocksy and Kadence are already doing this.

At present, I would say that menu design is one of the weakest points of GeneratePress compared to popular alternatives and it's one of the reasons I hesitate to recommend GP to non-devs, even with 2.0 Elements framework.

It could simply be added to the NavPlus module, and allow you to select a block template as a the menu item dropdown content from the official WordPress menu settings.

Hi there,

thanks for the suggestion, that maybe something we can do in the future.
Its a tricky one as we would probably need to build a custom nav walker for that specific purpose to get the necessary hooks in there.

We'll add it to the ideas list :)

+1 for this feature!

+1 here too.
