Menu Behind Slider

Hi,
I am running into a problem. I am trying to put a slider behind the menu, which is on the top right hand corner of the site. I have enabled a custom header, I have checked "Merge with site header" I have no padding enabled but it doesn't seem to work. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks for That.
I had it enabled earlier on today but it wasn't working so I switched it off. When I got you message I turned it on again and selected the colours of the title and tagline to white and it worked perfectly. Thank you.
