Something strange has happened to my website. I have not touched the “About Us” and “Contact Us” pages for about 2 years, but notice today that the margins and padding have adjusted on these pages.

Also, when I go into the “About Us” page on the WordPress dashboard, the main content appears as one column instead of two. However, when looking at the page on a browser, it appears correctly as two columns. If I update the page, it updates as one column. It is as if the page has been adjusted at the dashboard, but I have definitely not touched it.

I have not installed any new plugins, and I am the sole administrator / user. Should I just re-do these pages? Can you give me some idea as to why this may have occurred?

I am trying to resolve the above by TOTALLY REDOING the content on the “About Us” page.

However, when I add another container, I cannot see the settings to input “Contained Width” and “Container Width” (which I can see for the first container).

Please could you tell me how to get access to these settings.

    Hi there,

in the latest version of GB we removed the inner container that is automatically added.
Instead you add another Container Block inside, that will have a max-width and and auto margins. To help with this we added a shortcut to the block toolbar.

    See here:

Using that method the inner Container will have:

Sizing -> Max Width set to the Global Max Width, which is 1200px by default and set in the GenerateBlocks Settings. You can uncheck that and change it to any size you need.

Spacing -> Left Margin & Right Margin are set to auto which centers the inner container.

    Thank you David 🙂

Is there any explanation as to why the padding has adjusted on the “About Us” and “Contact” page, and why the content on the “About Us” page in the wordpress EDITOR is incorrectly set to one column as opposed to 2 columns (as viewed in browser)? If I update the page though, it will show as one column (when it was originally in two columns).

Could this have been due to the generatepress / generateblocks update?

I see the 2 column grid, but the Parent Containers Inside Container Width is set to 900px – is that correct ?

Yes, I want the parent container set to 900px, and for the content to be arranged into 2 columns (as you can see in the browser).
Is it possible to send you a screenshot of how it has adjusted into one column in the wordpress editor? If I update the page, it will be in one column, even though I did not adjust it.

Oh ok, would it be possible to get a temporary admin login to the site ? So we can see what is happening in the editor ?

What is the best way to provide you with temporary login?

    Hi Pauline,

You can safely enter your admin access in the private information field:

When I go into “Add New User” in the wordpress dashboard, it asks for an email address. What should I put? Is this the best way of providing you with the temporary login?

    1. Open the List View and select the first Container inside the Grid Block.
    2. In the Settings > Sizing set the width to 50%
    3. Repeat this for the Second Container.

Many thanks David – I have amended it on both pages, and it looks back to normal 🙂

Can you please explain why this happened – was it due to the GP update that removed the automatic inner container?

Yes, i think something went a little wrong when the containers were converted.
It may have been the legacy containers had default Grid Width settings and those were not picked up during the conversion.
    Ill do some testing
