Main menu dropdown icons load slowly

I have a minor issue on one site with the dropdown icons of the header navigation loading a little bit slowly. It shows for a fraction of a seconds just a placeholder:

The site is actually very fast having a Gmetrix loading time of around 0,9 seconds. So, it's probably not a performance issue. I checked other sites that use Generatepress and found that a newly installed site loads SVGs for the icons while an site created with GP 2.x uses the Generatepress icon font and the standard :before pseudoelement. Did you change this with GB 3? Would you recommend the new method? And how would I modify an existing installation?

Hi there,

We've introduced the SVG icon options a few versions ago.

You can change it in the customizer:
