Low LCP and CLS making Google ignore our site

Hi Kris,

I tested your site on Pagespeed Insights. I'd say it's more accurate that GTmetrix. It seems that the CLS is good. It's more of the FCP, LCP and Time to Interactive.

Thanks! I have done most of those, but not "Adding Local Fonts". How do I find out what fonts are used in my site?

Are they in Customising > Typography?

If so, I think we are using the following: System stack, inherit, tahoma. System stack and Inherit do not sound like they're fonts?

It can be done through right clicking and inspecting. Specifically, in the network tab, you can check if there's a font requested from Google.

Upon checking you front page and a post, there seems to be no font requested from Google.

Do you have a CDN as well? Perhaps you can try using a CDN so that your site's resources is loaded relatively faster geographically.

I changed them all to Lato in Customising > Typography.

Yes, you don't need to Use a Google font.

That solution is only incase you opted to use a Google font in your site.

OK. Wouldn't it be better to use a Google font though?

Performance-wise, it's better not to use Google fonts, and stick to the default/stack fonts.

Design-wise, using Google fonts has it's upsides.

It's preferential. But if you do decide to use Google fonts or any font besides the default one, it's best to host it locally.

When choosing a Font, the System Fonts are group together. You'll find Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman and Georgia. Make sure "Use Google Fonts API" is not enabled.

By default, if you don't choose or add a font, a System font will be used. With that said, you don't need to choose or add one in Typography if you prefer.

You can think of System fonts as fonts available locally in the devices of any site visitor.

It's the best option performance-wise, because a system font is already installed in any device - and, if a chosen system font is not installed, an alternate system would be chosen.

Yes, that should be good.

The "Use Google Fonts API" only applies if you're using the current Dynamic Typography System. You're still using the Old System as I can see from your screenshot.

Inherit means it will inherit which ever font is used by it's parent.

For instance, if a Container is set to have a font-family of Arial, and a Text inside it is set to inherit. Then, the text inside will inherit Arial.

OK, which one would be better: using System Stack on all font options, or start using the Dynamic Typography System?
