loop template - different first post
11 replies · Started by Dan on November 11, 2022
Hi,
I have created a post archive using the new 'loop template' element.
I would like to have the first post different, but the problem is that since I used the 'loop template' element, when creating the 'first post' element which only applies to the first post, the 'Parent Element' does not list the element I created with the 'loop template'
Is there a way to solve this?
Thanks,
Dan
Hi there,
no, not at this time, as the Query Loop only currently supports the one Post Template, in the future we will look to add features that support multiple templates.
For now you would need to use the Content Template to achieve that.
Thanks David.
Any ETA on the different 1st post for the loop template element?
The functionality has to come from the Query Loop block, and we don't have a fixed development milestone for it yet.
Any reason it has to be a Loop Template? Instead of a Content Template ?
Hi David,
Well, we have already set up the Loop Templates on the various locations for the site, and it would be added work to recreate them as Content Templates.
Thanks,
Dan
Sorry to hear that, but at this time the only practical solution is content templates.
The only other thought - how different is the first post ? can it be addressed with CSS ?
Thanks David.
The CSS customizations is an option, but if we will go that route, we might as well re-create them as query loops.
Thanks again
Dan
I hope you find a working solution!
Thanks, looking forward for that GP update
It will be a GenerateBlocks update :)
You're welcome!
Thanks.
Also added it as a feature request on the GB forum
