Limit display to a specific date range?

Is there a GP extension or can you recommend a GP-compatible plugin that will allow me to wrap a sentence or paragraph so it only displays it's contents during a specific date/time range? I don't want to hide an entire page.

I would like to be able to automatically open registration for events on specific dates and times and then close precisely on the deadlines so I don't have to watch my clock to do it manually. I want the rest of the info on the page to always remain visible whether the event is current or not.

Shortcodes would also be fine. I would eventually remove the dated entries manually anyway.
