Limit characters of post excerpt using query loop block
5 replies · Started by Magnus on May 31, 2022
Hello,
I'm building my homepage based on elements and query loop. It really works great!
I'm using the post-template within the query loop. Now I want to limit the text to an own defined value of characters. There is somehow a limitation to (I guess) 45 characters. But I want to modify this value to e.g. 100 Characters.
How can this be modified?
Thanks, Mags
Hi Mags,
Go to the page editor, if you click on the excerpt (Headlineblock), you'll see theExcerpt length option under the dynamic data tab:

Hi Ying,
thanks for your reply. I can't find this option. Maybe I'm blind or at the wrong spot.
I'm in the "Design" Menu and working in "Elements". Herein I use Container, Query Loop and Post Template: https://www.screencast.com/t/g72vJ4FfufG
Maybe you can give me additional guidance.
Thank you, Mags
Oh you are using WP's query loop block, I thought you were using GenerateBlocks's query loop block.
In that case, there might not be such an option, we can't really do anything to WP's core block.
I would recommend using query loop block of GenerateBlocks, it gives you way more options to customize the style:

OK, that makes more sense. Now I use query loop block of GenerateBlocks Beta and works much better. Thank you!
Great! You are welcome :)
