Hmm which translator plugin are you using?

Can you disable all caching plugins including Autopmize and see if that helps at all?

I am using WPML for translations.

Deactivating Autoptimize solved the problem. Thank you! Is there a way/setting you would recommend in order I can keep Autoptimize activated while make all icons show?

what happens if you re-enable autoptimize ? It may just have been a cached CSS issue.

I just noticed that the same problem appeared again. (Maybe I didn't empty the cache after reactivating Autoptimize.) The icons are still showing properly on the German sites but the English only show squares.
Is there anything else I could try?

Are you using the suggested setting for Autopimize here?

If so you might have to check/uncheck other settings to see if it helps at all.

Unchecking the
"Also aggregate inline CSS? [] Check this option for Autoptimize to also aggregate CSS in the HTML." -option did the job. :)
I guess that this won't influence the loading speed too much.
