LCP & CLS Fail On Desktop

Let us know what they say :)
Hi david they answered with a couple of things to test out, which will require me to sit down and try it out, but there is still no guarantee.
I found, however, this site here https://www.jsdelivr.com/features which is a CDN for the javascript and the Wordpress theme.
I have also found a site that passes both desktop and mobile that is using https://cloudinary.com/ which is for image optimization.
Actually, this site I mentioned is using both of these tools.
I have installed the free version of the ehttps://cloudinary.com/ to test it out do you think this is a good tool? Another question is do you think by installing jsdelivr, I would achieve some results? If yes, how would I install it? I tried to use elements to add the wp script, but the site jumped from 3s to 1m on lab... I don't know if it takes time to sink in before actually having any effect.
Thank you so much!
Hi Patricia,
We don’t have specific recommendations for CDNs.
They should help though as CDNs are meant to allow resources to travel shorter in a geographical sense.
You could try both and see how they go. Personally, I use Cloudflare.
I found this article that may help you with regards to jsDelivr CDN: https://restorebin.com/free-cdn-css-js/
You might also want to try CDNs that have both functionalities in one though they may be paid services: https://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/best-wordpress-cdn-services/
With regards to the script, may we know what specific script this is and what specific metric increased in your test? Lab tests reports are representative of the current state of the site while field reports is data accumulated from users over a 28-day period.
Kindly let us know.
Hi fernando. It has been more than one year that despite the great lab results, I don't pass core vitals on desktop for real data.
I am willing to fix it, but it seems like still haven't found the solution. I have contacted perfmaters and they recommended me deactivate some unused CSS files and scripts which I've done as they recommended.
The thing is, I am not sure if this will help wit LCP..
So, have I done what perfmatter support advised me, can you please test again like David did, so we can try to find another direction from there? Many thanks!
Hi Patricia, so i re-tested the same post i did earlier, see here:
https://www.screencast.com/t/vf3milywJg
test results
https://www.webpagetest.org/vitals.php?test=220611_AiDcKF_474&run=1
If you compare that to the test i ran here:
https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/lcp-cls-fail-on-desktop/#post-2241179
You can can see on the new test:
a. there are no Render Blocking resources.
b. The LCP time has halved from over 1s to around 0.5s
So thats a huge improvement.
HI David thank you so much! I will start a new validation on google search console. Hope it will be successful this time! lets's wait the 28 days to see :) thank you have a nice weekend!
You're welcome. Fingers crossed. And have a nice weekend too :)
