Latest Blog post widget not working

Happy Easter.
I am trying to use the Latest Blog widget I have put it in the Right sidebar), but in the Customiser the box for Category doesn't let me enter anything and has no dropdown list. I am using Wordpress 5.4 and have switched themes from Altitude from Imagely.

Actually the problem is not the category, it is the fact that no blog posts show up at all. It would be nice if they did and if I could select which ones by category

Hi there,
That's a WordPress core widget so GP doesn't have any control over it unfortunately.
It's a widget that displays the existing categories and not the posts themselves.
