Issue with Gutenberg and GP Premium?

Hello… I have an issue with editing the posts page.
When I create a posts page, everything seems to be ok as far as the editor goes. When I leave the editor for that page and go back, I get a page with ‘custom fields, comments, discussion, etc’ and NOT a classic or gutenberg editor. I do not have sections enabled. At first I thought it was related to trying to add a custom header to the posts page but now it happens even after I add the posts page to the main menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated…

ps. right now the site is only in development so I do not have a url to send a screenshot, etc.
Using GP Premium and everything is up to date.

Thanks

Hi there,

do you mean the Posts Page you set in Dashboard > Settings > Reading ?
If so this cannot be edited like a regular post or page as it is created by a function that simply displays the post loop.

What are you trying to do ?

Yes that is the page. I was basically trying to style the page and add images, etc beyond the functionality of the customize>layout>blog section. Thanks

Ok so we have a couple of choices:

1. you can use a Header Element to add some content above the Post loop.

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/

The display rules for that page is Blog

There is also the Hook Element - that you can use to add content in other places e.g below the loop:

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-element-overview/

OR

2. Create a Static Page - but do not set it as your Posts Page. Now you can add what you like and use a Plugin like WP Show Posts to display lists of posts amongst other content

Ok great! Option 2 is what I was initially thinking but will explore option 1 as well. Thank you so much!

You're welcome
