Is a pop-up option coming?

I realize this forum really isn't meant for this type of n question but I'd like to know if an option to use a pop-up without a separate plug-in being needed is coming?
Hi Heath,
We have no plans to add pop-up as a feature in GP.
It's not popular enough to be included in a theme so a third party plugin is still the best option.
