Installing new font

Hey
I use Open sans font for my brand but it is not the local font in the theme. If I use it through Google fonts, it increases the page load time. How can I install it locally and do I have to install it after every update.

try the OMGF plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/host-webfonts-local/
Its a lot easier then the manual method explained here:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-local-fonts/
Either method will continue to work after updates.
