I have GeneratePress installed. I want to install a child theme, and have a style.css and function.php file zipped and uploaded but I get this error when I upload it: Broken Themes The following themes are installed but incomplete. Name Description
GeneratePress Child The parent theme is missing. Please install the "GeneratePress" parent theme.

My style.css is:

Theme Name: GeneratePress Child
Template: GeneratePress
Text Domain: generatepress-child

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks. When I download and try to install that zip file I get this error:

Installing theme from uploaded file: generatepress_child.zip
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.

Yes, it's there (I checked) but on uploading there appears to be some error.

That's weird - we've never had this issue reported before.

Have you modified the parent theme in any ways?

Can you disable all plugins and give it another shot to eliminate any odd conflicts?

If that still doesn't help, can you provide the dashboard login and let me try it?

OK - Deactivated all plugins and still same error (and no changes had been made to parent theme code). PI sent.

I only see the user name and password above.

Can you provide the login link to your site as well?

Sorry - provided now.

OK. I have tested and am able to login with new PI details. Role is set as admin.

Hi there,

i just uploaded the GP Child Theme and it installed correctly. Please note: I have not Activated the child theme in Appearance > Themes. I'll leave that to you. Let us know.

Thanks. Any idea what was erroring?

Not sure - it uploaded first time for me. Maybe the .zip file got corrupted on download. I assume your file was uploaded as the exact zip file from the download ?
