importing site from site library onto an existing live site

My wife was fed up with the quirks of her own website which is using a standard theme. When I suggested to use GP and directed her to the demo section of the site library, she fancied the clean look of the Wordsmith site.
Now my question is: How can I import that over an existing website?
What options do I have to start afresh with this look and tweak from there.
The existing website is not very complicated and mainly blogs posts.
Any pointers to make it happen?

Hi there,
We typically only recommend importing templates to a fresh install.
In this case, my recommendation would be to start a staging site so you can duplicate the current set up, then import Wordsmith in the staging site and start tweaking from there.
Once the staging site is all ready to go, duplicate it to the live site.

speak with your Host - most hosting providers nowadays have a Staging service, which will ( should ) be automatic.

May I clarify Leo's answer for my situation here? If I should start a new topic, just let me know and I will.
We have a staging site which models our live site so I can import the Catalyst demo site to it. Is that correct?
2 Questions Plus Another

Do I import it with or without the content box checked?
Can I rearrange demo blocks/content and so on once imported?
Lastly, as a cleaner way to go about redesigning our site, would you recommend I start a whole new install, import Catalyst and then import our existing content instead of the above option? If it will ultimately be easier, I don't mind if it takes a little longer! A lot of our content has been updated off site so will have to be changed anyway.
