Images problems with post and when use columns

Hello. I have 3 issues I hope you can help me with.

1. I currently have 2 posts up on my blog. In the post I made active before the most recent GP update, the images within the post, including the featured image, are fine, appear the same and "sized" properly (at 700px x 400px). But, in the post I just launched yesterday (and after the most recent GP update), the images within the post appear too big. The feature image at the top is fine and looks normal, but the other two images down further, within the post, look too big. I've tried various changes but nothing seems to work. I also tried to simply resize the image in the WP block editor put then cannot center it.

2. When I choose to use the column display feature for my posts for my home page, the images are offset and not lined up horizontally with each other, i.e., one post featured image is lower than the one featured post image next to it, which makes the them look odd. I think it may have to do with one post title being longer (having more characters) than the other post title, which then "pushes" one post image down the page further than the post image next to it.

3. In the post I made active before the most recent GP update, I cannot see my images in WP block editor, but I can see them on my active website/blog.

Would you please tell me how I can resolve these issues?

Thank you,

Ann

Hi Annie,

Any chance you can link us to the site or specific page in question?

You can use the private information field.

Thanks!

Yes, I have linked to the site in Private Info. If you click on each post, you will see one post has "normal" sized images and the other does not. Please let me know if you need further info.

I have taken a screenshot (with Windows snipping tool) of the problem I see with the featured post images when I use the home page "column" feature but can't attach it here. I'm not sure why that's happening.

Yes, Ying, there are only two posts on my blog right now. I don't know why you can't see the problem. I've asked a couple of people I know to look at my posts and they can also see the images appear different (bigger) in one post than the other. I am specifically talking about the the images included in posts, not the featured images on the home page or at the top of each post once clicked on.

Would you please ask Tom or Leo to take a look at this issue to see if they can see the issue I am referencing and need help with?

Thank you

Hi there,

i can see a few differences.
The main one is on your older Post - the images are being lazy loaded from a CDN with a natural size of 700px.

Whereas on your latest Post - they are not being lazy loaded from a CDN - and their natural size are much larger - which is allowing them to fill the space.

I would begin by eliminating the lazyload/CDN so we can see what all images are doing without interference.

Thank you, David. How do I eliminate the lazyload/CDN (sorry, I don't even know what that is)? Also, David, if you noticed, now the featured image of the gas valve on the homepage is blurry at times.

I would start with disabling all plugins except GP Premium to test first.

Hi Leo. Do I even deactivate/disable the Bluehost plugin?

Yes :)

Hello David. Let me ask you this so I can try to resolve this issue myself. Would you please tell me how I can center a regular (non-featured) image within a post? What happens now when I resize an image in the post, the image aligns to the left side. I'd like the resized image to align to center. How can I do that?

That was helpful, Ying, thank you. Is there a way to set some setting in GP or WP so when I download an image to the media library that the image is 700px x 500px? Or is there a setting in GP or WP that allows me to size an images for my blog to be 700px x 500px? My objective is to have images for my posts to be 700px x 500px consistently so I don't have to go through this problem again.

You could set the image max dimension at Settings > Media, let's say set the large image max width to 700px. But it won't change the ratio of the image.

For example the original image you uploaded is 1400px by 1200px, with this setting, the image will show as 700px(width) by 600px(height).

To resize every image to 700px by 500px, you'll need to crop them using 5 x 7 ratio. I recorded a short clip for you, hope it's helpful.
