Hey guys – Excellent theme. My site is much faster and I’m pleased to say it’s not conflicting with some of the plugins I previously had activated.
All that being said, my site no longer re-sizes images on mobile devices. This is the message I got from ShortPixel when I inquired about how to fix the issue:
“Google complains about the fact that on mobile your site is serving images much larger than their placeholder. (Compress and resize … ) For example, on your homepage, for mobile, Google complains that you’re serving this image: http://www.completesoccerguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Dollarphotoclub_23261612.jpg which is 2048px wide for a placeholder of 340px. This means that the photo is, in area, roughly (2048 / 340) squared = 36 times larger than needed.
Well, in reality Google PSI is a bit wrong, because the image that the browser loads is the 1024px one from the srcset (http://www.completesoccerguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Dollarphotoclub_23261612-1024×681.jpg) but this one is still 10 times too large…
In my opinion you need an additional thumbnail size of 400px to account for the mobile. the 300px that you have is too small. You could discuss this with the theme guys, or with the person who developed your site.”
Any insights on how to fix are much appreciated! I’m not really sure where to start… Is this a theme issue or do I need to build out separate pages for mobile?
