Images in 'Elements' not displaying webp versions through imagify.

Hello.

I've recently changed the theme on my site to 'Explore' from the site library (I was previously using a different starter site from GP) and this includes a lot more elements than I was using before.

Since switching to use these elements, I've noticed that my site is no longer serving webp images for the images that are part of the elements.

This is the featured image and author profile picture, as well as the single post navigation.

I use WP Rocket and Imagify for caching / images and everything else works fine in regards to serving webp images on my site. It is only the images in elements that are not being served as webp.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks, Joel

Hi Joel,

Many image optimization plugins aren't capable of turning background images to webp.

They usually only work with regular WP or GB Image Blocks or any image created conventionally with an <img> tag in it.

Otherwise, you would need to change how these images are shown structurally, or you would need to contact your image optimization plugin to ask if it's possible to optimize a background image.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks for the reply. I'll follow up with Imagify and see if they can find a solution.

You're welcome, Joel!
