Images horizontally overlapping in a 2 column grid

Hi there,

The structure is:
container -> 2 column grid -> an image in each column

I'd like to have each image the same width of its column. So I tried to set images wide width and as an alternative, full width.
I like how I see the images with a mobile (single image, non margins, no padding) but in desktop view they overlap.

Maybe I am doing something wrong? What is the right way to have those images the same width of their column in desktop view?
