Images are not available in the posts

I first enabled image optimization in Jetpack which took away all the images from all my posts. I disabled Jetpack and I was able to get them back in the posts (admin section) but not on the website.
since my website is very slow, installed Autoptimize and again I don't see any images. I did not select any option in the Image section of then Autoptimize.
can you please let me know how to get back all the images in website
nothing is working, going to reinstall a new theme and try it out.
