Image Width For GP

Sorry for the obvious question but a search of the forum turned up too many results to sort through. I'm wondering what the image width max is for generate press? Either featured or in blog image. Trying to get core web vitals to play nice and if GP is only going to show x number of pixels wide no matter what I upload would like to start uploading closer to max size and reducing image size. Hope that makes sense :)

PS By max image width I mean what's the max GP container size. If it's 800px or something I'd rather upload my pics closer to that than 1400/1500px wide.

While you can set your image width on the Customizer - https://share.getcloudapp.com/eDujjDRX - the max display width of images depends on how large of a space your content container allows.
Say for example: If your container width is set to 1200px, your display width will not exceed 1200px regardless of what width value you've added to the image width field because the limited size of the parent container.
