Image Caption not displayed
10 replies · Started by Philipp on June 5, 2017
When I am going to set post thumbnail meta in media manager for a blog entry as shown here, it will not be displayed on the frontend. This is different for images which I embed directly in the content as can be seen here (grey small font below images). Am I doing something wrong or is it possible to update the inc/template-tags.php file of my child theme?
Hi there,
Unfortunately the default WordPress Featured Image only grabs an image – no caption.
You could try this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/featured-image-caption/
Hi Leo
Thank you for your feedback with suggestion.
Unfortunately, it seems this plugin is not working out of the box with GeneratePress. There is a checkbox “Automatically add the caption to the featured image” which I enabled. However, caption does not appear. I am going to try the additional provided short code option. Will let you know if it works.
Thanks,
Philipp

Captions for featured images? Or within your content?
Hey, captions for featured images. What do you mean within my content? I would like a caption to appear below photos.
Thank you!
Can you link us to the page in question?
Feel free to start a new topic so you can use the private URL field as well :)
I am still unable to see image captions.
I will start a new thread.
Thanks!
