Ella
Hi there,
I’ve updated my homepage and blog post widget for the “About Me” bit on here ( https://www.forgettingfairytales.com/ ) however, it’s showing up blurred on any of the tabs other than the Google that I’m logged into the site on. The same image on the About page is not blurred, and other images I have tried to swap it for – are also now showing blurred on the widget (even though they’re not blurry pictures and the picture is tiny on the sidebar so there really shouldn’t be a problem with it.
Do you know why this is or what I can do to fix it? I just added the image through “add media” on the widget and didn’t change the size at all. The last image wasn’t blurred all.
Let me know what you think.
Many thanks,

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
what was the original image size that was uploaded ?

Umm, I’m not actually sure, I didn’t resize it before uploading actually – should I try resizing? And if so, to what dimensions please? ๐

StaffCustomer SupportThe image that is being displayed is only 225 x 300px.
Thats not a lot of pixels for a photo, especially as x2 / x3 HD displays are now everywhere.I generally upload images with a minimum width of 768px – that should be sufficient for a really sharp image ๐

Hmm, is there anything I can do to improve it? As when it’s large, it’s perfectly clear – it’s only when it’s small, it goes blurry, and you’d think it would be the other way around. Also – I’m not 100% sure if that’s what’s causing the blur as I tried setting different images and every one comes out blurred – not in posts or pages, but only on the widget.
What else can I try?!
Thanks,

StaffCustomer SupportAre you using flying images ? as i can see the image is being loaded via a Flying CDN

I’m not sure what that means. I do have a plugin called FlyingPress downloaded though. I don’t know what it does, but it was installed when I had work done on my site to pass my core web vitals. I’d be nervous about removing anything like that in case it then stopped me from passing them. Do you think that’s having an impact then? What is it doing?
Thanks,

StaffCustomer SupportIf i inspect that image, its is being loaded from the flyingCDN, so yeah it looks like FlyingPress.
I checked their features here:https://flying-press.com/features/
And that includes On the Fly Image Compresssion.
If the image looks good on the browser you’re logged into, then i would suspect you’re seeing the uncompressed image.
Can you ask FlyingPress support to take a look at the issue ? It may be a simple minimum compression setting they can tweak to fix it.
