Have you considered something like Uber Menu? I know it works well with GP, and it well supported.

If the GP font size options aren't working, it means the plugin is adding their own font sizes using CSS which would be a strange decision if they say their plugin will work with any theme.

You'll need to inspect the element and add your own CSS to overwrite it, or just use a plugin like Uber Menu which works great with GP and is probably the most popular mega menu plugin available.
