How to set and stick the featured image on the left?

Hi!

I'm a beginner and i'm creating a blog to my own articles.
Is it possible to set the featured image on the left side and keep it there like in this site?:

Hi there,

thats a cool site - but it would take custom development as well careful design consideration regarding image sizes etc....
