How to run a CSS Animation?

I am trying to get a css animation running in generatepress. The demo seems quite easy to setup:

copy & paste css, assign class to div
but the result it quite sadly no amination at all.
what am I doing wrong?
Hi there,
that codepen is using LESS for the CSS, before you copy the CSS click the dropdown arrow beside the CSS title, and select view Compiled CSS.
