I’m new to WP and websites. Trying to set up simple but good looking website in UK and like the layout but have no technical knowledge whatsoever! Have been playing about with the WP dashboard all day – but now have a Meta box showing – I’ve tried to remove it -I successfully removed the categories and others, but can’t see where this one is when I look through the WP Dashboard? Its showing on the blog page?

Also when I click on ‘Home’ I get the About page?

I have some more questions but will try one at a time! Thanks

    Hi there,

Do you mean your sidebar widgets?

If so, those default widgets will show if nothing else has been added to the widget area.

    You can:

    a) Add something to that widget area
    b) Remove the sidebar completely: http://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/choosing-sidebar-layouts/

    Let me know 🙂

Yes think they are side bar widgets ? Can I over type into them- if so how do I find where the one titled Meta is?

I would also like to move the Facebook icon ( and change it) but not sure where its located now?

    many thanks

If you go into “Appearance > Widgets” you can add your own widgets into your desired widget area – then you can change the titles of each widget area.

Are you using a plugin for the Facebook icon?
