How to prevent website icon cropping from WP?

Hi,
This is not a specific GP issue but I could not find any practical answer about how to prevent WP from automatically asking to crop images that are going to be used as Favicons. More often than not, the image is turned from png to jpg, thus losing its needed transparency.
Do you have anything about that?
Thank you,
Philippe
Hi there,
i haven't been able to find the function that WP uses for that.
What i do know, is if the image is exactly 512 x 512 px then it would ask to crop it....
Mine is 800 x 800 and WP still asks to crop it. Same thing if it is below 512 x 512.
It shouldn't be that difficult to have a website icon in png!
Still looking into it.
Yeah, i believe it has to be exactly 512x512 and then it won't ask to crop.
Ok, I'll try this.
Nope. It was cropped, turned into a jpg file, and "optimized" by Shortpixel into something that decency does not allow me to tell.
This ticket can be closed.
I created a rule in Shortpixel NOT to optimize the icon picture and it effectively remained set as a png file.
Again, why not think about this earlier?...
Glad to hear you got it resolved.
