How to have a grid of custom posts?
11 replies · Started by Leif on September 1, 2020
I am trying to have a 3 wide x 2 deep grid of hub pages (not my actual category page but like a hub page with lots of links).
So the grid would have to be of specific URLs and their featured images or specific posts.
I wanted to use WP-show-posts but I wanted to also have custom titles for the items in the grid.
Maybe there is some default grid system in wordpress them I'm missing :S
Hi there,
Does this help?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-columns-in-the-blog/#adding-columns-to-your-custom-post-type
Let me know :)
Oh nono, way simpler than that. It's probably so simple you don't get me :P
On my home page I have this 3x2 grid labeled Latest Posts
https://fiveyearfireescape.com/
I want to not have those be blog posts but instead custom images/titles/text
and I don't know how to make a grid of 6 images/text that is responsive.
You could try the grid from GenerateBlocks:

Ah ok that seems like it would work. But...I have my page setup with sections right now (so that I can have full width container backgrounds with inner container content).
Can I do the same thing with container blocks?
Yes - GB was created to replace sections so it will be able to do anything Sections does and much more :)
OK so I just went to do this and step 1 of the grid overview was to put everything in a "container block" but I don't seem to have that as an option...
Step 2 is use a grid block element...which I also don't seem to have
I checked I have GP-Premium 1.11.3 and I have GP 2.4.2.
Soooo I don't know what to do :|
Hi there,
you need to install our GenerateBlocks plugin:
Ah ok, that did it :)
The one issue I have now is that the grid blocks container won't pick up the background color selection. Or the button backgrounds/borders

I'm pretty much just recreating this now :)

EDIT: I realized if I load this in incognito mode I do see the container backgrounds and button colors...but not one of my short codes or button borders :|
Not sure if I understand.
What should I be looking at here?
Everything looks pretty good to me:

Please disable all of your caching plugins as well so we can view the source better.
Oh I can open a new ticket if it's best, I'm still trying to implement your recommendation of using generate blocks and it seems to have broken my shortcode :(
The part that doesn't load is the button borders or the shortcode that is supposed to live in the green bar at the bottom. :(
on the page https://fiveyearfireescape.com/home2/
Does the shortcode load fine without GB?
I'm seeing an inline style display: none here:
