How to decrease the size of the background imagine in the Mellow theme?

Hi there, I am using the mellow theme for my page and would like to the main image on the homepage to decrease its height, but not the width.
Basically so that all the blogposts appear a bit higher and the image itself takes up less space, without decreasing its width, so it still covers the whole page from left to right but goes a bit "higher".
How is this possible to do, also different sizes on different pages?
