How to create a home page like nogluten.com

I have just imported Marketer from the site library and I'm wondering how can I create a home page like nogluten.com, Would a page builder be required?
A page builder is not required to replicate No Gluten. No Gluten was created by Brian Jackson of forgemedia with GeneratePress.
The home page was built using WP Show Posts which was also created by Tom. However, you shouldn't need WP Show Posts now that GeneratePress includes theme building options.
How would I be able to do it with just GeneratePress? If there are resources on how to do theme building, please link them for me. I'm new to WordPress and GeneratePress. Thanks.

As Bryan mentioned, nogluten's homepage is done with WP Show Posts. http://wpshowposts.com/
It is simply 2 WPSP lists placed as content on the page.
It's using the Overlay card.

The first WPSP list displays 2 posts only.
The second WPSP list displays the rest of the posts in a paginated manner. With an offset of 2, done manually because WPSP offset when paginating a list in a page is bugged when there are 2 WPSP lists.

We don't have any step-by-step videos for this, unfortunately. It's a custom site.

GP Premium doesn't create custom queries. It only modifies existing ones like the archives or the blog index page.
While Bryan has a point, I'm not exactly sure if the first 2 post have the same query as the rest on the second post list.
If they have different queries, (assuming its the same "latest posts), then GP Premium 2.0 content template can work to some degree.
But if it isn't you'll need something that allows you to make multiple post queries.
