How to change the home page?
9 replies · Started by Julien on December 30, 2016
Hi,
I'm trying to change the current / default home page. How can I do that?
When I go to settings > reading, i do not have the option to choose another home page. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Julien
PS: the front page display doesnt show up as it should and there may be a bug.
Hi Julien,
Try Customizer > Static Front Page, make sure "A Static Page" is checked, then you should be able to select a Front page and a Posts Page.
Let me know.
Hi,
Thanks! Where can i find customizer? I found a link called customizer but then when i click on it, it takes me to this page: /wp-admin/customize.php
Thanks,
Julien
This post should help: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/finding-the-customizer/
Also make sure your add-ons are activated as #4 in this page: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/installing-gp-premium/
Let me know.
If there's no option in Settings > Reading under "Front page displays" it often means you don't have a published page (drafts, private pages etc.. don't show up).
Many thanks! You guys were right, i needed to have a published page to see the option in the settings.
Thanks,
Julien
Glad we could help :)
I still have this problem. When I change the homepage to a page, the header style disappears.
Looks like this:

when it should look like this:

What am I missing?
Hi there,
when you make a page the home page, WP no longer treats it as a static page, it gets given the special place of Front page.
So if you want to apply an element to that page you need to include the Frontpage option in the elements Display Rule locations.
Likeweise you will need to disable any elements currently using that rule that you don't require.
