Jim
I’ve searched the docs and forums here, but haven’t found an answer to this.
Is there a way to assign a link to the icon added to a block? For instance, when using the Headline block and adding an svg icon, how might one apply a hyperlink to the icon itself?
Specifically, I’d like to add a link to an icon for a Headline block, especially when hiding the text. Is there a way to do this? If not, please consider this a feature request.
Considering a set of social icons is provided, adding a link to the selected social profile icon makes sense. Yes, there may be other ways to do this, and I understand contatiner links are a feature of the pro Generateblocks. But adding a field for Link URL in the Icon tab would be just fantastic.
Site is currently under construction so I’m unable to provide a link.
Thank you!

StaffCustomer SupportHi Jim,
You can use a GB
Buttons
block, add the icon to the button, then toggle theremove text
option. The link can be added to the button.

Thanks for the fast response!
That’s one workaround that will not quite work to accomplish this task. When using the Buttons block, there is no option for setting the icon color. You can only set the text color, which then applies to the icon.
Note in this screenshot how the Button block is selected. Text is hidden, and button colors are cleared. This leaves no way to color the black icon. The larger blue icon above is added by applying the SVG icon to a Heading block, but that block has no way to add a link.
Please consider adding a link field to the Icon tab as a feature request. We can live without it for now.

That’s absolutely not right.
In the buttons block, the icon color is controlled by the text color, even if you removed the text, you can still set colors for the text which would be applied to the icon as well.

Got it! Thanks.

PS: While this does address my immediate need, it does not provide a way to add a link to an icon applied to a Heading block. When adding an icon above Heading text, is there ANY way to assign a link with hover color and new tab attiributes?

Why not add a button with icon above the headline? 🙂
I believe the feature you are asking for can be full filled with the buttons block.

Sure it could be done that way. I was only considering the headline icon link based on sample content in one of the template sites I’ve been working with. Please consider this topic closed.
