How to ask email address before downloading a PDF file

Hi,
I would like to add a PDF that people can download on my website but they have to share their email address before downloading. I've been trying with plugins download manager and email before download but it's doesn't work well.
Does anyone know how to do it?

I feel like a plugin like a download manager would be your best bet.
Have you checked with their support to see why it doesn't work?
My wife does something similar with WooCommerce but the customer would have to register an account before downloading.
You could also try asking on a general WordPress forum like this and see if anyone has any experiences:
