[Support request] How do I move the website

Hello!

I have installed GP in a test area in order to work with the customization before going online and change the current wordpress template I am using. I now need to move the installation to the actual server where the original website is. Do I have to go through the installation and customization again, or is there a quick import I can do to get all the settings right? I am using Dispatch and premium GP.

Hi there,

that depends if you’re test area is on the same server as your live domain then your host company could simply move the site over.

If it isn’t you could try one of the many plugins such as Duplicator or All In One Export to move the files over.

Hi David,
the live site is in the same server. I did move the files (theme and plugins), but the customization didn’t seem to have followed. Maybe it has to do with the database? I have a dummy database in the test area, since it is a very old website, with a large database, and I thought it would be more convenient this way. Is the customization saved in the database?

Customizer and theme settings are saved in the theme options database. So simply moving the files over will not move the settings.

The method i use for manually moving a site is to use the Duplicator plugin:
