How do I get background colour to show beside header logo?

I don't want the white header to extend across the whole top of the page:
1) I want some of the background colour to show on the left & right of the header logo
2) I want to be able to choose the width of background colour that shows there
I have already set "Header Width" & "Inner Header Width" (I don't know the difference) to "contained," but it still appears to be full. How do I fix this?

and header padding: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-padding/
Both the header and inner header width are contained already on your site.
Figured out how to fix it: Customize > Layout > Container > Container Width
