For a couple of weeks now, my client’s website has been under attack from numerous/various IPs and they are attempting to login using the author name on blog articles. I’ve set the lock-out for wrong password to 1 time, and I’ve even installed a Plug-In named Brute Force, (which allows black list of IP addresses, etc). What I would like to do is completely remove the “author name” from all posts site wide, so that hackers can’t see it, bots can’t scrape it, etc. Is there any way to disable and hide the
“Author” tag site wide? I’ve tried some plug-ins that are designed for this, but none of them work for GeneratePress apparently.
Hi there,
If you have our add-ons, you can do this using the Blog add-on “Customize > Blog > Blog Content”.
Setting author to hide will completely remove it from posts.
Then you can remove the author name from the comments class with this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/security-optimisation
Worked great Tom thank you!
You’re welcome 🙂
Hi Tom,
I wanted to do the same too.
Was able to hide the aurthor name on my post,
however I am still not able to hide my author name if
someone do a querry http://www.website.com/?author=1
My author name will still appeared.
Is there anyway I can hide this in generatepress so that querry will fail.
Thank you.
Is Display Author unchecked in both Archives and Single toggle?

Hi, I have the author username and date appearing on published posts and I don’t know how to hide it. When I use the Blog customization these options are already unselected so not sure what to do.
Hi there,
Any chance you can open a new topic and link us to the page in question?
Thanks!
