How do i create an archives page?

This is a basic question but i have searched the forum and documentation.

How do I create a basic archives page?

I See the template for it but i don't see the template drop down picker when i add a new page.

Hi there,

You can't actually - archive pages are automatically generated by WordPress.

I am used to their being an archives template in other themes.

Should be able to achieve something like that with Tom's WP Show Posts plugin: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-show-posts/
