How do I create a hooked Hero using a dynamic featured image from Latest Posts?

On the homepage of a GP site, I would like to place a block just under the main nav/header showing the most recent Latest Posts from a specific post category. But I'd like to place the headline and date from that post over the top of the dynamic featured image that's shown. Can this be done and what is the best way? Thank you!

Is your home page a static page?
If so, the layout can be done with Query Loop Block.
But the style might need to be achieved with custom CSS.
We are working on our Query loop block as well, the release date will be in Q1 2022.
Before that, WP's Query loop block should be what you are looking for :)

OK, I guess I'll have to use the Latest Post block for now, without doing the cool design.
How might I get notice of the release date on the Query loop block? Or is it just made available automatically as an update to the GP theme?

The function will come with GenerateBlocks plugin, when it's released and your plugin is updated, you'll see a new block in GB's block group :)
