Hi there,
I have just removed my social media icons from the top of my website because they were getting in the way. I think I would like them at the bottom somewhere in a Footer widget, but which one is best? Also, it’s asking me for a ‘title’ and I don’t know what to put in there because it doesn’t need a title.Do you have some training on how to add social media icons to footer widget please? I can’t se to find it.
Thanks
March 2, 2021 at 10:33 am #1679213LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
You can use a plugin like this:
https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/lightweight-social-icons/March 2, 2021 at 10:36 am #1679220stefanieOk, I think I already have that installed. So, is there no other way I can do it within the theme because I don’t like too many plugins? I’m pretty sure when I had them running at the very top of my website I didn’t use a plugin? I have taken them off now so I can’t show you what I mean.
Thanks Leo!
March 2, 2021 at 2:48 pm #1679485YingStaffCustomer SupportHi Stefanie,
You could also add custom html to footer widget, format would be something like this:
<a href="social-media-link"><img alt src="your-image-link" width="50px" height="auto"> </a>
After they’re inserted, you could try to style them with CSS.
March 2, 2021 at 4:08 pm #1679533stefanieHi Ying,
So, do I put this code in the customizer widgets or the wordpress widgets? Sorry, can you explain further as I’m not a web developer so I find it hard. Once I have put this custom HTML in, what happens after that? Will it be obvious? I somehow need to put all my links in right? Thanks

Not all plugins are bad.
Lightweight social icons is actually pretty simple to use as well.
Here’s a demo video on how to set it up and add it to one of the footer widget areas.
https://share.getcloudapp.com/9Zu848xDMarch 2, 2021 at 5:24 pm #1679576YingStaffCustomer SupportGo to appearance > widgets, add a custom html widget to the footer widget you want, you can write you html there.
I recorded an example for you π

Thank you so much for the training! I have followed it and it worked perfectly. Awesome!! π
March 3, 2021 at 7:06 am #1680451stefanieHi Ying,
I really appreciate you doing the video for me, however, I have decided to just use the plugin for now as I wasn’t sure about adding the right information to that HTML. But I really want to thank you for going out of your way to help π
I also have another support topic ongoing with you that I’m not sure you have seen my response to. It’s about the gap on my homepage. Anyway, if you can’t find it I will ask again.
Thanks so much!
