    Hi there,
I searched a lot in the documentation but did not find the option to add a favicon to GP. May I know how to do it?

    Best regards,

I believe it’s under Customizer > Site Identity.

    follow up question:

Is it correct that favicon = site icon in generatepress?
    “Site Icon

Site Icons are what you see in browser tabs, bookmark bars, and within the WordPress mobile apps. Upload one here!

Site Icons should be square and at least 512 × 512 pixels.”

I know favicons as having a size of max 96×96 pixels and having the name favicon.ico
Is this the same? Or why upload 512×512?

    Hi there,

Yes, when you upload a Site Icon in WordPress, it’s used as your favicon 🙂

Sorry to jump on this. I am on a new provider now and I can see all the 404 errors (thanks to Kinsta) and favicon.ico is the top error I am trying to resolve.

My site identity is all resolved according to the options so I am curious why I am still getting the error. Is there a hardcoded wordpress call for an ico file?

As far as I know, browsers will try to find the favicon.ico if no icon is set in your <head> area. Did you upload an icon in Customize > Site Identity?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do have it.
I have the logo, the site icon, but not the retina logo. I have to read on what the retina logo means.

Only the site icon should matter in this case.

When you test your site with a tool like Pingdom, do you see the favicon.ico request?

I don’t see it. I have a feeling it’s an external call from a bot trying to fetch something that isn’t there or needed.

We can consider my comment resolve.
