How can we show posts from selected category on homepage

I would like to show recent posts from selected categories (category1-post1-post2-post3,category2-post1-post2,post3 etc) apart from regular recent post that are displayed in homepage.

if you set your home page to a static page ( in Settings > Reading ).
Then you can build it using the GenerateBlocks Plugin and its Query Loop block:
