How can I make google post the updated time of the article?

Now my articles are showing the date they are being posted but I would like my articles to show the date instead when they were updated (so Google likes me more)

this doc shows you how to change your dates from Published to Updated:

After that, it is down to Google to decide if and when to display that date.
