Hi Tom, I love the video option for the pageheader. But this can generate a lot of bandwidth. Could you also add an option where we can just add a url to a video hosted on youtube / vimeo as background video? This would be a great add-on.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperUnfortunately I don’t think it’s possible to use an external source as an HTML video background, but I’ll definitely look into it 🙂

It sure is, I saw this earlier in some multipurpose themes. You could chose between a selfhosted URL or a Vimeo / Youtube URL. Actually, when I paste a embed code into the Pageheader content, it almost has the same effect. But It should ge a background video, so the content will be placed over it.
Looking forward to some kind of option! Keep up the good work 🙂

Hi Tom,
Not to rush you, but is there any timepath this function will be added? I need this for two projects, I’m trying to yield. Otherwise I’ll try to ‘hack’ it in for the time being.
Kind regards,
Rogier

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThe script we’re currently using doesn’t support it, so I’ll need to find a lightweight alternative.
It’s on my list of to-dos, but I don’t have any set time yet.

A good example of how Visual composer does this:

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperJust looked into this.
Inside Vimeo, go to your video settings and click “Video File”.
They actually provide you with the mp4 file which you can then add to Page Header and it works 🙂

there is an option to do this with youtube videos?

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperJust looked into it and it doesn’t look like YouTube provides the file URL.

I think having access to a Vimeo hosted mp4 is no longer true, unless it only applies to paid accounts.
They do support iframe embedding of their player without any controls, so it would work, but I don’t believe it would be responsive.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks!

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperI do believe it’s only with their pro plans currently.
