Hook in Sidebar

Hi there guys,
i've got a website where i'm trying to display some ads in the sidebar of my website
I added some code to the before sidebar content hook and published it but then it didn't display.
I then edited that to after sidebar content but that didn't display either.
I don't know if the code would work in a widget, but the code should work in a hook as i have ads in a after content hook.
Also if i remove all widgets from the sidebar why does it show search and archives? Can i not have a sidebar with 0 widgets on?
Ooh I should probably also mention that I have added some CSS to make teh sidebar sticky, so I don't know if that would affect it

Could you please deactivate your cache plugin, clear browser/server cache first? Thanks!
If the problem persists, any chance you can share us the code you added in the hook? And what location have you set for the hook?
For the sidebar widgets question, yes, you can have sidebar with 0 widgets, this is what I see of your sidebar.
